A few user interface/experience projects
the ‘room control interface’ thing
SAVI has many different use-cases, from controlling stadiums and entertainment venues with hundreds of endpoints, to controlling single conference rooms with one or two displays. This is a quick tour of the latter, aptly named Room View.
In addition to drawing from my own insights and discussions with internal SAVI office staff about conference room dynamics, I collaborated closely with a prominent sports team's technology group, who expressed early interest in Room View.
While I can't disclose their identity, (you may be able to figure it out) they eventually deployed Room View for all stadium suites in a well-known venue.
-
Conducted meetings with the technology group of the sports team to grasp their specific needs and objectives.
Collaborated with leadership to find a balance between the specific requirements of the sports team and the essential features necessary for MVP nd future iterations to appeal to broad market clients.
Interviewed internal office staff to identify meeting pain points and explore how Room View could address them.
Developed wireframes and solicited early feedback from both the sports team and internal staff.
Created mockups and engaged internal staff to observe and identify any flow issues.
Presented mockups and wireframes to the development team for implementation (and dev feedback).
Produced finalized mockups for handoff to the development team for coding.
Participated in weekly update meetings with developers, providing feedback on progress.
Engaged in testing/bug reporting for the early beta version to ensure smooth functionality.
Oversaw creation of marketing materials (emails, brochures, digital content, etc) for the launch of Room View.

projects
A few major “hands on” projects I’ve contributed to over the years
the ‘digital sky’ thing
In pursuit of creating new and exciting experiences for their Guests, Topgolf thought ‘wouldn’t it be great if we had a large-scale direct view LED wall on the ceiling’? Of course, never being ones to say no to a challenge, my colleagues set out to accomplish this deceivingly monsterous task.
-
Created early concepts of the direct view LED wall to determine ideal source output requirements (pixel count, min specs needed for PC, video card outputs, etc.).
Assisted with firmware deployment and troubleshooting of the LED panels.
Configured source PC, interfaced with content creators (NativeForeign) to prepare video assets.
Created custom test patterns for specialized ~6K resolution LED wall.

This is my “tell me it’s 4AM without telling me it’s 4AM” face.
Ironing out the last few bugs…
the ‘target LED’ thing
Another Topgolf project - colorful dancing patterns of light programmed to change with the rhythm of the current song.
If you’ve been to Topgolf at night and seen/heard one of their light shows, it’s likely to have been designed by yours truly.
-
Topgolf locations nation wide
-
Created a physical scale mockup of the Topgolf outfield with 75x individually addressed DMX controlled RGB LED lights arranged to match their full-scale counterparts.
Learned to program LED light shows using Enlighten software, and worked closely with the principal developer to make changes necessary to accomplish goals required in this unique use-case.
Created a plan for remote deployment across Topgolf locations nation wide.
-
the ‘SAVI Connect’ thing
In March of 2020 this thing called COVID happened and many things in the world came to a screeching halt.
Instead of going to a trade show during a global pandemic, we took it upon ourselves to have an online event - SAVI Connect.
-
Carrollton, TX
-
Created a plan to film, edit, and produce our 6+ hour online event - meant to be seen as though it were broadcast live.
Storyboarded the entire event and coordinated with marketing and sales to get copy written for introductions and various scenes.
Created plan and sourced necessary tech (gimbal, wireless microphones, etc.) to film the event.
Built web form to collect information from potential attendees.
Built email marketing campaign to increase attendee numbers.
Conceptualized and built landing page for SAVI Connect viewers.
